[Breaking] Part of the ceiling collapses at Lotte Department Store Centum City food hall in Busan... Over 100 evacuated

A portion of the ceiling in the basement food hall of the Lotte Department Store Centum City branch in Haeundae-gu, Busan, collapsed, leading to the evacuation of over 100 people, including customers and employees.

At approximately 3:03 PM on the 31st, a report was received stating that part of the ceiling had collapsed in the B1 food hall of the Lotte Department Store Centum City branch in Haeundae-gu, Busan.

There were no casualties in the accident, but over 100 customers and staff members in the basement store had to evacuate.

The department store closed early for the day to conduct safety inspections following the accident. It is reported that the ceiling collapse was caused by a leak related to the cooling water pipes within the store.

A representative from Lotte Department Store stated, "It is presumed that the accident occurred because a cooling water pipe came loose," adding, "We are currently investigating the exact details of the incident."
