On the 1st, Judge Seok Dong-woo of the Changwon District Court's Criminal Division 4 sentenced a woman in her 40s, referred to as "A," to a fine of 300,000 won on charges of assault.

A was brought to trial on charges of punching a man in his 20s, referred to as "B," several times in the face after discovering he was secretly filming her while she was urinating in a first-floor women's restroom of a building in Seongsan-gu, Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, around 5:40 AM on December 8, 2024.

Investigations revealed that B had illegally filmed A while he was already under a three-year probation period after being sentenced to one year and two months in prison in December 2023 for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (illegal filming and distribution using cameras, etc.).

A claimed that she never assaulted B, but the court found the assault to have occurred.

The court stated, "Considering that B consistently testified about the assault even while confessing to the crime of secretly filming A urinating, and that it is unlikely B would fabricate an assault claim given his desperate need for an amicable settlement with A while on probation, the fact of the assault can be recognized."

The court further explained, "Given the circumstances—including the fact that she went beyond blocking the exit with her leg to prevent the apologizing B from fleeing and instead punched him in the face approximately 15 to 17 times—this cannot be seen as self-defense or a justifiable act that conforms to social norms."
