BewhY has created an incredible album, 'pop is crying'

BewhY's 3rd full-length album, pop is crying

BewhY returns with his 3rd full-length album, his first in 7 years since the album 'The Movie Star'.

Currently, various hip-hop communities are praising this album highly, evaluating it as "Album of the Year" material.

To be honest, BewhY had been at the center of controversy due to some lines he spat on a Show Me The Money 12 stage.

However, upon listening to the album, it turns out those lines were merely a device for the album's narrative.

The themes he wants to convey in this album are stories about 'failure', 'money', 'faith', and 'family'.

I want to introduce every single song on the album, but the track I'll highlight here is track 6, 'Handshake', which has left many hip-hop fans in awe.

To understand this track, you need to know about 'Bak-Geo-Son' and the '110.12 incident'.

'Bak-Geo-Son' is an abbreviation for "Skip Jay Park, go with Son Simba," and since the '110.12' incident has a lot of detail, please refer to Namuwiki.

'Handshake' tells the story of how hip-hop heavyweights tried to recruit BewhY when he was at the peak of his popularity before founding Deja Vu.

Starting with a beat reminiscent of Cunning City, he tells the recruitment stories with great flavor, bringing to mind 'Next Level' from E Sens' 'The Anecdote' album.

In the first verse, the story of Swings' offer to join Just Music comes up.

"A phone rings, from Swings"

"He tells me to be the Just Music last member"

"I chose a handshake instead of a signature"

BewhY received a recruitment offer for 'Just Music' from Swings, but in the end, he chose a handshake over signing.

The following second verse covers the recruitment offers from Dok2 and The Quiett.

"A phone rings, from DOK2"

"Maybe he saw my ambition, telling me to join AMBITION"

"I chose a handshake instead of a signature"

BewhY received a recruitment offer for 'AMBITION' from Dok2 and The Quiett, but in the end, he chose a handshake over signing.

In the final verse, the recruitment offers from Jay Park's 'H1GHR MUSIC' and 'AOMG' are mentioned.

"A phone rings, from Jay Park"

"H1GHR MUSIC recruitment was the first for me"

"The label name he proposed again was AOMG"

"I chose instead of a signature"

Regarding the repeated 'Handshake (握手)' in this track, if you look only at the content within the song,

it seems like a cool handshake (握手) where he rejects offers from various giants to choose independence.

However, if you know BewhY's narrative, including the '110.12' incident and the end of Deja Vu,

it feels like a 'bad move' (惡手 - *aksu*) where he missed a great opportunity and made the wrong choice.

I introduced 'Handshake' because it's the track Dotax users would be most interested in, but the album itself is so excellent that there are many points to highlight.

Above all, while previous albums felt a bit repetitive or heavy, this album is something you can listen to all 15 tracks on repeat without getting tired of it.

In my personal opinion, this is definitely a career-high album for BewhY, and I believe an incredible album has been released that could sufficiently aim for Album of the Year.

Writer's best tracks: Bae-it-gil Bow, Handshake, Abiga

How did you all enjoy BewhY's 'pop is crying', a masterpiece created through failure and trials?
