South Korean Submarine 'Dosan Ahn Changho' Currently Transiting the Pacific

The 'Dosan Ahn Changho', which departed from Jinhae Naval Base on March 25th, is en route to Canada via Guam and Hawaii. It has currently arrived at the U.S. Naval Base in Guam and is loading supplies.

This 3,000-ton submarine, independently designed by South Korea, will be the first South Korean submarine to cross the Pacific, expected to achieve a record distance of 14,000 km, the longest for a South Korean submarine. At the Hawaii base, two Canadian crew members will additionally embark to directly demonstrate the operational capabilities of the South Korean submarine.

Upon arriving in Canada around June, it will conduct joint exercises with the South Korean and Canadian navies. On its return journey, it will participate in RIMPAC (multinational maritime exercise) with the U.S. Navy in Hawaii.
